Zero Suit Rebooted by Cryophase Zero Suit Rebooted by Cryophase
Zero Suit Samus is back for another generation of Smash Bros.! I love what the team did with her design this time around, as it's a stand-alone that borrows bits and pieces from various games but in the end creates a very unique and aesthetic rendition. Those new boots are awesome too.

I'm not a fan of her power suit form, since they've used her Other M suit entirely, and I never was a fan of that. Sad that the Prime series suits never made it into a Smash game, but hey, Zero Suit will always be my main so I can't complain too much.

Metroid, Samus, and Smash Bros. (c) Nintendo

Check out some of my other Samus work!

Ah, the Plasma Whip from Samus's Paralyzer gun totally surrounding her with the Screw Attack symbol in the background. And jet boots from the new Super Smash Bros.

Wonderful! :)

I had to take a look at the Download to see the amount of detail that you put into your artwork here. The lighting on Samus's Zero Suit is very well done, along with the painted-on, skintight look of the Zero Suit. I just love those toned and muscular upper arms that you gave her.

I have to agree hat I'm a fan of her Super Metroid look best. and that Other M was a very big fail in both design and story. Also they could have used the fusion suit design and I would have been much happier. Strong female leads can be strong and popular and still seem human without making them fragile and tender inside. gah, I hate that stigma on female characters.

Anyway, I had to do this piece as well because I just love Metroid. I'm not going to touch too much on the fact that the feet and how they are positioned looks wonky, mostly because I still struggle with foreshortening myself too, and I have no tips on how to make it look less awkward at the moment.

But I will critique her shoulders. They look too bunched and stiff. Even people in a movement or tensed for battle have less tension in their shoulders. It looks liek she's trying to pull them into her neck. Let the shoulders loosen up and move away from the neck a bit. She can have a girly body without having tiny dainty scrunched shoulders.

the foreshortening on her left hand looks pretty good. Always room for improvement, but its a hard thing to master dammit. So i applaud you for atleast making it believable.

Other then that you have some great highlights going on their and great movement. I really feel the power flowing through her whole form, and I do love how the zero suit screams, "I am a woman." While she can have the terrifying bounty hunter feeling in her armor. All in all another win.

Would love to see her hair a little less cartoonized. Let it flow, it'll look twice and pretty. The way it is it looks rather gelled and plastic.

I like her look in Prime 2/3 the most, I'm not a huge fan of the old suits. Retro did the design justice! And yeah, I could go on and on about how Other M was a travesty of the written arts, eck. It's a silly stigma, but luckily the other, real Metroid games don't fall into it, just their retarded cousin

Haha I always seem to fail at feet, they're definitely a weak point for me. Thanks for the tips on the shoulders as well, I'll try to practice more convincing movement. Same thing with the hair(another weak point of mine).

Thanks for the feedback! Most appreciated. Let me know if there's anything in your gallery you want a critique on

Lol, her Super Metroid look =  cdn.wikimg.net/metroidwiki/ima… and original Metroid look = img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20…

Vs. Retro's suits(i.e. RetroStudios, the creators of Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2 and 3) = images.wikia.com/metroid/es/im… img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20… img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20…

Her original design was so 70's future look. and very bleh.

Her super metroid is sexy badass. and so is the prime suits. I like them both.

But thank you for explaining what you meant by "retro" I'm familiar with the games as i've played and or watched my brothers play nearly all of them. I'm not familiar with the artists and creators and the technical stuff.
